[DeTomaso] torquing the axle nuts

One way is to attach the upright to the lower mounting point (the pivot
shaft), then rotate the top down so the entire assembly is horizontal to the
ground. This will position the axle nut facing up where you can get to it
with a big torque wrench. You will need to come up with another big lever
that engages the lug studs to hold everything still while you torque the
nut. I've used a long 2X6 (wood), which works but is not ideal. A lever
welded to a wheel spacer would be much better but I've never gotten around
to making one.

Subject: [DeTomaso] torquing the axle nuts
After a few months of sitting in the shop, I am finally ready to put my
suspension back on the car. When I assembled the uprights, I tightened
the axle nuts but did not torque them. So, I've got my 350 ft. lb.
torque wrench and special socket at the ready, but how do I hold or
secure the hubs to get the nuts tightened to that specification? All
ideas, tricks, and/or processes welcome.
Thanks,
Joel
