[DeTomaso] Front Brake install Question

I don't see that removing the tie rod end or upright is really necessary -
unless there are worn out or broken parts involved. I installed a similar
Wilwood front caliper kit (from Dennis Quella) and all I needed to remove
was the front hub. After the hub is off, pound the lug studs out of the
hub, slip off the original rotor, install the Wilwood hat/rotor using the
original lug studs, and finally reinstall the hub (with new grease, bearings
and seals). The Wilwood caliper mounts to the existing upright using a
custom bracket that matches the Girling bolt holes to the Wilwood caliper
mounts. It should be pretty painless.

But if you really need to remove the tie rod end, try placing a second
hammer on the back side of the tie rod spindle when you whack it with the
first one. If it doesn't come loose whack it again, but harder. Continue
until separation occurrs.

Subject: [DeTomaso] Front Brake install Question

Hi everyone, I am putting on Bob Byars front Wilwood brakes and calipers.
the problem is I took off the 26 mm nut for the tire rod and end banged on
it
to get it loose, no go, there was some rust dust that came out but the
threaded part didn't move (just bang harder?). also to get the front upright
out you
have to take out one shock bolt so the arm will move, Right ? Us amateurs
want to know Thanks Pat Orlando 1972 Yellow Pantera S/N 4011
