Tom is not only a master mechanic, road racer and drag racer he is also one heck of a nice guy. I'm on this list due to my Mangusta but I have a couple dozen others and recently got bit by the Crosley bug... I had negotiated for a rare Hot Shot in Napa...call that SanFrancisco CA and another Crosley barn find in Fort Morgan CO. My intent was to borrow my buddies 20' open trailor coupled to my diesel Suburban to fetch them. I belong to several internet car groups and solicited Tom because he tipped his hand at living in/near Denver.
I had wanted to get the CO car, take it for a weeks storage at Toms and leave my wife with friends in Vail CO while I continued to CA for the HotShot. When plans changed Tom actually seemed disappointed that I wasn't going to stop by. As it turned out I got the CA car first and brought it to Denver to store at Tom's place...I had been behind the wheel 26 hours at that point and he darned near forced me to crash and dine at his place before I explained I was only 2 hours away from my target in Vail.
I got to meet his charming wife and see his three toys including the road racer and engine of recent discussion.
As one who does most of my own wrenching I can admit to making some pretty stupid mistakes. As one who knows several professional mechanics I have seen them too make some pretty stupid mistakes for which they often tend to bill the customer not only for the initial teardown but the additional teardown to fix their own blunders. Stuff happens....even to the best of us.
My point here is to commend Tom on his "can do" incredibly tenacious attitude mustered not at the 11 hour but well into the 11 hour and most close to the magic hour! And not only can we admire those inherent internal traits of his, you must also know that Tom is an incredibly gracious and helpful sole as well. He not only opened his doors to a complete stranger, he insisted on being the consumate host to that same stranger.
Tom, in case you missed it, THANKS very much!!! And bowl em over in the beef and tall corn country!!!!!
Regards
