Mike,
I have consumed the last of my Castrol-sponsored motor oil. So now I need to actually pay for it.
I bought some from CostCo a few years ago, stocking up on some sale, at a price I don't remember.
That was the first time I had to buy oil in 25+ years, as a Castrol Rep gave (sponsored) me with oil.
OK, I dated his daughter 25+ years ago, but he died and so went my free unlimited supply.
(I mean something like 10-20 cases a year...I finished the last cardboard can in the late 1990's - grin.)
Last I remembered good oil cost 49 cents a quart!
>>>Which brings up a theoretical question: How long does oil in a (cardboard) can stay good?
Anyway,
I currently run Castrol Synthetic in the Pantera, and regular Dino in all my other cars.
I've been checking local places. Kragen's is $3.09 for 1Q of Castrol Dino.
$15.99 for the 5.5 Quart jug. ----> No sale currently.
There is a small parts store that joined the "RDC" Chain, and I received a mailer.
The "sale" is for Castrol Syn at $5.19 / Qt, no dino price listed.
They also list Meguiar's "Mist & Wipe" polish that I tried at Concourso on a Ferrari for $3.49
which I hear is also a good price.
Some stores no longer carry Berryman's Chemtool (Carb cleaner spray), which they have on sale too,
$4.85 down to $2.19.
The reason I brought this up, is my storage shed, which was filled with supplies is now empty.
I thought I still had plenty, but as it turned out my wife used the "empty" oil cases and supply boxes to store the kids old toys.
So I get ready to perform maint on the P after Monterey and go to the shed only to find EVERY box containing
TOYS not oil, coolant, cleaner spray, spark plugs, and etc....
I thought I was Supply-rich, but now I have to re-stock my long-term inventory. I was hoping I would not have to
re-build my inventory one box at a time going the "on sale, rebate, coupon" route.
Oh well.
Castrol Chuck
My original question remains:
Where is the cheapest place to buy a few cases?
>>>Kragen's now stocks Castrol Dino oil in large jugs, either 4 quart
or 5.5 quart, and it's a fair bit less than buying by the quart, or a
case of quarts. It was on sale too, when I bought several jugs last
week.
Mike
