[DeTomaso] ignition problem?

Some drop-in electronic modules have additional failure modes than the usual 
it-works-or-it-don't, so thats a logical place to start. Old Pertronics 
modules would fail but the only  you could tell was the engine would not run above 
about 1500 rpms. Reportedly, they started fine. Also, on some cars the 
screw-locked multi-wire connector just below the ignition switch causes weird 
troubles, and the ignition switch itself is prone to fail, but usually, only when 
starting. 

If you must change from points 'n coli to electronic, I've personally had 
good results with a converted Ford Duraspark ll distributor, coil & small 
brainbox, all available thru all Pantera vendors as a pre-wired kit, and if you get a 
brain-failure on the road, they're available as replacements from Pep Boyz &
