Tom,

If you do "all" the prep work and buy the paint then $500-$1000 might be 
reasonable for a guy to just spray the car.  However I have to agree with 
Doug that nobody is going to stand behind the finish if they do not prep the 
car.
PI Motorsports advertises the lowest price I have seen (starting at $6000.) 
for a Pantera paint job.  I would guess this is a basic quick job and not an 
overly finished weekend car show winner. For a professional thorough paint 
job I found most quality shops quoting 10 to 15k.
To quote one veteran Pantera painter on the time and effort needed to prep 
and paint, "It is just a lot of work".  ;o)
