That is interesting Jack! I knew there were a lot of cars that use them too
but I wasn't sure the brand and models.
When I selected my new PE wheels in 2000 I went with 16X8 on the front
knowing that a gazillion cars use the 245/45ZR16s. When I upgraded my PE
wheels in 2004 I went with the 16X8 again because I knew the 245/45ZR16s
they would be around for a long time. I just prefer the look of the 16s on
the front rather than the larger wheels. They especially look good with
335/35ZR17s on the back because the side wall on the 245s are about 1/4"
shorter than the 335s giving a perfect sidewall ratio but not the skinny
rubber band look.
Besides the cars you mentioned, Dunlop recently told me that there are a lot
of import cars that use them including BMWs, Audi's, Nissan 300ZX, etc. With
so many cars using the 245/45ZR16s I wonder why some Pantera owners think
the 245/45ZR16s will be discontinued soon.
Mike

Millions of mid- '80s Z-28s & Trans-Ams as well as some 'Vettes used 245-45
and 245-50 x 16s. We autocrossed on Goodyear 245-45 x 16s on an '82 Z-28
with
updated wheels (legal in prepared-Stock to go one size up). Cheers- J DeRyke
