[DeTomaso] Trans Ear Studs

Hi Everyone, Well I tried to get the studs that hold the trans ears to the case out. I put 2, 17 mm nuts on the exposed stud and tried to unscrew it. what happened was both nuts turned and the stud stayed in place. Now of course I tried tightening the 2 nuts  together tighter but that did not work. One of the studs came out after turning it because the nut did not turn on the stud but just the stud unscrewed from the case instead. I am concluding that they are in the  trans side to stay. I didn't want to damage them so I gave up. I wanted to make it easier on myself for this winter to take the trans only out of the car to replace my original 92,000 mile syncos.
