[DeTomaso] Bumper Rechroming

I remember reading of a home-craftsman that repaired crumpled stainless trim
pieces by pouring molten lead made from old wheel-weights into an undamaged
section of the piece. Then when the hard lead cooled, he simply slid it down to
the bent area and used it progressively as a gentle internal 'dolly' along
with a small hammer to perfectly de-dent his irreplaceable trim. Final polishing
followed. The technique should also work on the ridiculously thin DeTomaso
bumpers as well- just be patient, & be sure the inside of the piece is treated
with something so as to NOT bond the lead slug & steel together! Good luck- J
