I owned a Bavaria in college and I have had 2) 2002's and a Alpina enhanced 325.
I always wanted a M633/635 and one day I may find one that isn't too beat up, it's not so much the performance of that series, I just always thought they looked cool and it was dream car for me when I was still climbing the corporate ladder ( which turned out to be stairs down to the basement of hell, but that's another story ) I also produced the photo spreads for the Z-3 and the 540 when they debuted in the US as a part of my work.
As far as Auto Dealer workers, I can't stand any of them, it always seems that except for designers and engineers in the car business, everybody else could sidestep into making and selling microwaves ovens and not skip a beat. I have always been a car person ( my Dad raced Pro-Stock / drag racing / GTO 389 w/3 deuces) when I was a kid and I raced did later on) and I guess I have always resented people who get to do my avocation as their vocation and they aren't enjoying it.
Speaking of that brought back a flood of memories, I remember being six years old and assigned to go get crushed ice at the concession stand before each run to put into a 1 quart paint can filled with a coil of copper that my dad ran the fuel through before entering the carbs to prevent vapor lock. I had my first embarrassing experience in life at Thunder Valley ( Bristol, VA ) after I had just drank a Nehi Orange soda and eaten some peanuts and then got to ride up to the bleach box/line in the race car, it shook and vibrated so much that when I got out of the car just before the burnout ( back then the NHRA was sorta slack) that I promptly threw up in front of thousands of people, Oil dry was used for something more than spilled oil that day.
Plus dealing with Car Dealer People just plain sucks.
As far as vendors go, my car is heavily laden with vendor parts ( see the list www.tandemproductions.com/pantera.htm ) and currently I'm awaiting a new carpet set (from a vendor )plus two custom made C4 seats by fellow Pantera guy Gary Herrig.
I don't think I should be castigated for trying to find a couple of window switches locally if that is the easiest thing for me to do rather than waiting 7 days and paying more than they should cost plus shipping.
Y'all need to relax a bit!

Subject: bavarias
FYI: Bavaria had no series # - it was BEFORE the nazis had series nmbers. The 5ive series evolved from the Bavaria (w/ the "big" six - a different motor from the little gurly man 2.3s etc.)
Having been a parts jockey for a number of years I can add: the folks that have a computer and a job aren't parts men. Look for the old guys or learn to say "Can I see a window switch from a early 3.0s?" or whatevAh. If one can't outsmart the system one will fall victim to it.
Sweet old Bill will probably get you the part # - I have a box "somewhere" if you still need it tonite let me know

someday I'll relay the "what kink of mercury is it?" story. (now, is that a montclair? Or more like a cougar?) been there, done that . . . its fun if you have a buddy along - sometimes.
