[DeTomaso] stroker kit????

Some of the stroker "kits" require substantial pan rail grinding to clear the 
crank counterweights & rods, and more grinding is necessary on the oil pump 
casting to clearance it, too. This maximizes the crank counterweight diameter 
for less tungsten (mallory-metal) needed. Dunno how close to the cam lobes the 
rod bolts get- smallblock Chevys actually need offset cam lobes to clear the 
rodbolts of some stroker 'kits'! I think you get a glue-on template for cutting 
the pan rails in kits, but there's a lot of grinding involved, from the one I 
saw being done at a shop. Definitely NOT plug-and-play; a good engine guy is 
essential to pick one or piece one together successfully! Good luck- J DeRyke
