Freaky Larry,

Add my vote for NOT doing a 393...and you'll get allot of argument on this subject and that's good but here's my story. I have had two 377ci Cleveland strokers built (Mike Cook did the first in '96 and Russ Fulps did the 2nd in early 2004 and they were/ARE BOTH bullet proof to 7000+ R's. The second one is still strong and running strong after 13 ORR's and a bunch of street miles to Vegas and up and down the left coast. The latest 377 Cleveland stroker that Russ built also made all most as much TQ and allot more HP ALL RPM above

My experience with the three 393 Cleveland Strokers was not good. They all felt from day one like they were going to grenade....Allot more vibration and after more years then I would like to admit after awhile you begin to get a 'feel' for how strong a new motor will be from the get-go.

The 1st 393ci Cleveland stroker blew after about 1500 or so road miles but grenaded in its first ORR 7 miles into the run at Silver State at about 5500 R's.....the 2nd blew on the way home from JB house and the 3rd actually made it through an entire ORR season but it just never felt 'right' if you know what I mean....I never had the confidence with any of the 3 big strokers to just go out and thrash the engine at WOT like I have with the 377's.

So Ron, based on what your saying.. and woud like the input of everyone else
as well...

If I don't expect to rev 7500 rpm.. and seldom see 5500 rpm.. then I can go
with the 393 and make sure of my 4V heads and ITB? :)

What type of parts should I be looking for and would it basically fit the
351C without much modification? I just don't want to run into unexpected issue
where the machine shop has to do a bunch of other things to make it all work
out...

If I believe correctly.. a stroker basically has a longer stroke and that's
via a modified or different crank that's larger in diameter... mm longer
rod?... Would i need a custom piston or a normal forged 351C piston woudl be fine?

And then of course i'll need new main and cam bearings... piston rings...
etc for my typical engine rebuild right? :)

Larry
