[detomaso] Pantera windshield wiper

Hi Axel,

I had the same problem.

There could be a few sources.

1) Water drains down through the tube into the motor.
Pull the case off the motor and drill two small holes (2-3mm) in the bottom
of the case. You might want to clean and paint the case with POR-15 or
Eastwood while you are at it.

2) Old grease
There is a lot of old grease in the gears above the motor and on the gears
below the wiper stocks. Pull it apart and clean it out. (It is not easy.)
Replace with fresh grease.

3) Motor over heats
The motor is made by the same people that made the window motors in the
doors. Enough said. I do not know if there is a modern replacement.

I made changes #1 and #2 along with cleaning and repainting the tubes. I
have not had a problem since then, but I have not had to use them for an
extended time or in heavy rain, so the problem still could be there.

Mark

Subject: [detomaso] Pantera windshield wiper

Hi,

after using my windshield wiper for a while it stops for some minutes,
mostly when the rain becomes stronger.
A few minutes later I can start it again.
Do you know a replacement or help?

Axel
