A few possibilities, Axel- all done on our '72-L, so other years may be
varient. First, on top of the wiper motor/transmission ass'y, there is a small
black plastic cover marked "Lucas". Inside this cover is a set of points & wiring
that are used to reverse the electric motor's rotation. Mine were burned a bit
after 20 yrs so I filed them clean. Its very easy to crack the brittle
plastic cover during removal, so beware.
Second, the multipoint wiring connector going from the motor to the front
wiring loom was electrically 'open'; a good shot of Radio Shack contact cleaner
fixed that.
Finally, if nothing else works, the whole system came from Jaguar & may still
be available from them. By unbolting the motor/transmission and twisting
while pulling, the assembly will slip out of your Pantera along with the drive
cable.
Once out, you can bench-check it with a spare battery etc. I'd re-grease the
transmission, as it likely hasn't seen service since the car was new. When
reassembling, its a good idea to rotate the cable in the housing exactly 180
degrees so as to expose an unworn cable area to the wiper worm-drives. On some
cars, the two clamps holding/guiding the cable into the wiper drives is
over-tight and must be fiddled with to loosen. Don't disturb the wiper drives
themselves unless the assembly cannot be removed, or you may have trouble slipping the
cable back thru.
Good luck- J DeRyke
