Now Mr. Dawg,
You are quoting prices from a couple of years ago.
I even told Russ I am a "good friend" of yours and his current price is still $6,300 for the short block and assembly of the Dawg motor.
Apparently the price for parts has gone up.....or I am dropping the wrong names! ;o)
So I have;
6,300 for short block and final assembly.
1,200 bare BT heads (ebay deal)
400 + for Aviaid oil pan and pick-up
3000 for intake, ignition and fancy pants fuel injection.
1500± for exhaust. (probably 180's)
I am already up to $12,400 for what I thought was affordable 'old school' technology.
I am not ready to jump ship on the Cleveland but I was just surprised how close the price is to that techno coolguy new motor.

Are you kidding me?
$15K for 500HP? If I pay $15K I sure as hell better get 750+ hp. I paid $4200 for my 500+HP Russ Fulps engine...16 ORR's and a bunch of street miles later the only thing I've had to do to the engine is replace the plugs.
For half that $15K I can have a NASCAR motor or Crazy Dave will build a twin turbo motor and I'll have $7 grand left to play with.

S.H.M. uses there own aluminum casting of the modular block with optional
deck height which is much more durable than Ford's aluminum 4.6 and much
lighter than either 4.6 or 5.4 or in the one shown 6.0L. They also come fuel
injected as well but the prices are based on set-up. They are not cheap, all
High end parts used and have a very good reputation for endurance racing.
