Dan, you dont mention trottle possition sensor? Thats what I use and
it works great with big cams. Ok, everything has its backsides, but if
one keeps an eye on lambda once in a while for some minor adjustmants,
its great for "overlap" engines.
If one is going to build a real performance engine, an open ECU is fundamental.
Such engine will need so much fuel lines, fittings, rails, pressure regulators,
big fuelpumps, trottle bodies etc etc that the ECU itself becomes marginal in
total cost. And cocidered that the ECU is such important factor for a performance
motor that needs attention, its the wrong place to save money.
Modern ECU:s also got great monitor screens to have on dasch. Shows everything
one needs to know, and has datalogging, to look back how the engine was
running under a specific condition.
