Dan, on my first 500cui Ford I run a dominator carb at 11mpg average 
and 14mpg at steady 60 mph. The Hemi did about the same using a Holley
pro 950 cfm carb, 12 mpg average and 16 mpg stedy state 60mph.

The trottle position injection is averageing 16mpg and 21 mpg at 67mph,
using a 264 dgr @050 cam. Lc 110.
As a comparsion the 351C used 18 mpg on a road trip to Italy-Sweden,
of 3600 miles, using a 224 dgr @050 cam. 

Ok, the Hemi got som disturbing soot ppm numbers at idle, but its gone at 
2000 rpm. But thas occure even with the carb and overlap. Do you got example 
of bad experience yourself?
