I might have an assumption as to why the front passenger side sticks out  
further.. see if this makes any sense...
 
When I upgraded my radiator to the fluidyne aluminum one, I also realized I  
can't actually position the radiator directly dead center and that the holes  
where I install them into on the bottom were actually offset to the passenger  
side as well. Since I had this in a lay down position I coudl actually have 
it  in the center with no ill effect. However in a stock position I can see how 
it  could hit and interfer with the stock headlight motor / gear assembley.
 
Since it was offset to the passenger side.. it might also have done  
something maybe accidentional... on purpose or jus tover seen when they welded  the 
passenger side a-arm mounting ears to offset the same distance?...  maybe?...
