  I'm using a Fram water filter.  It's a single spin-on filter the size 
and shape of a 1-quart oil filter, and it splices into a heater hose 
instead of a radiator hose.  The aluminum bracket was $20, and the 
filters are about $12.  These are intended for OTR trucks, and most of 
the filters have anti-corrosive additive packages built in.  I'm using a 
Wix filter that's just a filter with no additives.

  On the downside, it's a steel-cased filter, so you can't see inside. 
I change it every couple of years.
