John,
I am aware of the tests to become citizen, and I think they are a good thing, but from what I'm hearing about the present issue, those here illegally are demanding to be granted citizenship without learing English and with no tests. At least that's how it sound to me.

People who do become citizens legally often no more American history
than most Americans. They do have to take a history test.
I think everyone in this country needs to have 2 years government of
military service. Works well in other parts of the world. I would like
to send all the brats on my street to basic training!!!

At risk of exposing my radical side, I don't think citizenship
(and thus voting rights) should be given to anyone. I think some form
of service (military or civil) should be required. I also would like
some form of testing to show a minimum understanding of our history
before anyone can vote. It is obvious that this could be abused, but
the current system doesn't work either, so I'd rather risk the abuse.
And raise the voting age to 30.

Our independence was not "given" to us by England.
People died for us to get it and many others endured
terrible hardship, loss

were declared, by Great Britain, to have committed
treason. They could have been
killed at any time and many were.
England is our biggest friend, but it is changing
rapidly and within a few
years will sadly go the way of France. I was there two
years ago and was told
that the English population is so frightened by the
Muslim immigrants that they
do not even speak of their problems in public.
I fear greatly for the future of my country, God Bless
America!
