Gang,
I've had more that a few requests from folks at the recent Las Vegas
Pantera Tech Session for more information on a chemical which will go a
long way in eliminating the electrical contact problems in the Pantera,
especially in the fuse compartment. The manufacturer claims that use of
this will result in the same conductivity of a soldered joint, and you
can't get much better than that.

If you have any doubts on how well it works, do a Google search and
randomly read some of the reviews from folks in many diverse fields who
have successfully used the stuff, and are very happy with it. The only
drawback is that the initial purchase is expensive - a Visine-sized
bottle ran me about $60, but it should last the average owner a
lifetime if used correctly. It's cheap in that it eliminates a lot of
repeated repair jobs.
Don't hose this stuff on, just put on as thin a coat as possible to
cover the electrical mating surfaces of the connector, fuse, etc. Hosing
won't hurt anything, but will be a waste of enhancer. I bought a 15 ml
bottle from NAPA about 5 years ago, and have used (approximately) only 1
ml so far, some to just having the alcohol vehicle evaporate. Although a
q-tip comes in handy for hard to access parts, it wastes a bit of stuff
so I prefer to just get the bottle's tip damp with the stuff and apply
directly to the connection. Read the applications sheet in the package
or on their web site before using it.. NAPA markings on the box are:
"CE1 Contact Enhancer", "R0 13339", "707390-426860".
Important: remember to ask for the 22A version, (not just the
concentrated, plain 'ol suffix-less 22) . The "-A" version is the
alcohol diluted version, and is much cheaper than the concentrate, which
is an aid in applying the correct amount.
Finally, I don't have any connection whatsoever with the manufacturer,
any distrubutor, yadda. Just trying to help the Pantera owner's group.
Comments welcome, Al
