Last night I asked a gal at Jr. College how to convert the intuitive
formula

T2 = T1 + ( T1/F1 X F2 )

into the simpler

T2=T1*(F1+F2)/F1

Good conversation starter plus I was able to stare at some nice cleavage
for
a long time.

The intuitive formula, in words, the applied torque T2 is the sum of the
torque you are reading, T1, transmitted through the extension without
change; plus the force you are applying to the handle, T1/F1, times the
lever arm of the extension, F2.  I might forget the memorized simpler
formula, but could always derive the intuitive formula by observation.
