These plugs are not pipe threads. They are straight threads with a sealing flange.

http://www.hatecinc.com/emb/emb-03-08.htm is a source for stainless metric banjo fittings 22x1.5 (they have 10x1.0 thru 48x2.0)

It has been said that a 1/2" NPT (14 threads/inch) fitting will screw into and seal just fine in the M22x1.5 (17 threads/inch) gas tank drain. Use gas proof tape on the threads. Gas and gasoline proof thread sealing tape is available at Home Depot in the water heater installation section and is yellow to distinguish it from the white tape used on water fittings.

https://www.rockauto.com/ is a source for a 22x1.5 engine oil drain plug used on 1972 BMW 2002. The plug is $2.94 and the gasket is $1.61.
