Not a good idea IMHO.
FWIW, cutting the frame CROSSMEMBER is not to accomodate a big pan, but in
order to remove ANY pan without having to pull the engine. Long oil lines reduce
oil flow and are vulnerable to road debris damage, and a front mounted
air-to-oil cooler won't work very well unless you cut the body for airflow into &
out of the cooler. IMHO, the factory GT5 and GT5-S units are worthless, using
too-small supply & return hoses for a too-small unducted air-to-oil cooler
mounted behind the radiator where it only gets pre-heated air.
Finally, Accusumps simply pressurize the oil system if for any reason the
pump runs dry momentarily- the 2 or 3 extra qts an Accusump contains will last
about 10 seconds in a running engine- enough for a savvy driver to get out of
the throttle and save the engine's bearings but not much more until it refills.
Good idea for autocrossing and maybe as a pre-start oiler but not as a
substitute for a real oil pan. My 2¢- J DeRyke
