[DeTomaso] transmission

Need some immediate help.  We are trying to replace the Speedo drive gear in 
the transmission.  Can not get the adapter threaded screw, that the 90 degree 
screws on, out of the transmission.  If we can not get that adapter threaded 
thing out, I can not slide the drive gear into the tranmission.  we have the 
lock pin out (I do not have a drive gear presntly in the transmission.  I 
thought the original one was plastic but this replancement is metal) I have tried to 
to screw the adapter bolt on and use it to back out the threaded portion but 
it only turns a 1/4 turn.
