Whoa boys! Time for me to chime in here with my useless trivia. Yes, there were some 1983 Corvette's built as described here http://www.idavette.net/facts/83.htm . Although it says none were sold to the public, I have an article from a Corvette mag circa 1987 where a car thief describes had an "order" for a 1984 front clip. Upon chop shop disassembly he finds the build sheet under the seat springs stating the model year, not build date, as a 1983. This has led to speculation that some of the origional 1983 Vette's were sold as re-titled 84's.

Not to be a smart A**? But the didn't make a 1983 Corvette. Sorry I couldn't
help myself!
Curt,
There was no model year 1983 Corvette. They were switching over to the C-4
and skipped the 1983 model year. The 1984 C-4 was introduced in mid 1983.
