Yes, I do run the Crane steel gear with a Crane hydraulic roller cam. 
And though I've not run the Mach I this year (cracked battery and 
unemployment thing), I did check the gear after a couple of years and it 
looked brand new, with just a little bit of shiny where it was 
contacting the cam.

I would do it again. ;)
