FWIW, I second that opinion. My own person experience with Farmers was such that I would strongly recommend staying as far away from them as you can. I don't know of any other company. insurance company or not, that I think was as systematically unreasonable and unethical in dealing with them. One of the most frustrating and expensive mistakes I've ever made. I warn anyone that asks, don't get involved with Farmers. I learned that lesson the hard way.

I'm not an insurance kind of guy, but it seems to me they are charging
an extra $58 to NOT insure the Pantera? Sounds like buying insurance to
me, just BAD insurance (they won't pay if you get into an accident).
What kind of crap is that? If I drop an owned car from my policy, my
rate goes down, even if I still own the car and keep it parked on my
property. Example, vehicle only used during winter to plow driveways,
insured only for about 4 months every year, otherwise not insured during
summer months when it just stays parked.

I know there are many folks on this forum who have Farmers and have been
very pleased with their service and policies, including covering their
Pantera. However, I only personally know local people who have been
screwed by Farmers, either in policy coverages like you are describing
or by claims they refused to pay because of supposed loopholes.

If you are getting charged extra to NOT cover a car, I'd be running away.

I've not heard anything -bad- about J.C. Taylor so I think you're okay
there, but have you talked again with Hagerty to see what their increase
would be for the same amount of coverage this guy is offering through
J.C. Taylor? Maybe Hagerty won't be $10 more.
