Dear Asa and Scott,
I know nothing of JC Taylor, but I remember years ago when I acquired my Pantera in 1988 I was shopping around for insurance. I called Farmer's. I spoke with a young man.
"Hello, I have had insurance with Farmer's on my other cars and I would like to insure my Pantera with you.", I began.
"Yes, sir. What kind of car did you say it was?", he innocently replied.
"It is a 1974 DeTomaso Pantera. It is an old foreign car."
"I am sorry. What kind of car did you say?"
"DeTomaso Pantera. 1974 D-e-t-o-m-a-s-o P-a-n-t-e-r-a. It is an Italian sports car."
"Please hold a minute while I check on this for you."
Time passes and I anticipated insuring the Pantera for the same favorable rate that my other cars had been offered.
"Mr. Engles we cannot insure your Pantera."
Surprised by this, I said, "What do you mean you cannot insure my Pantera? You've insured Datsun Z cars and Ford Mustang GTs for me. Why can't you insure the Pantera?"
"Mr. Engles I have checked and the Pantera is on our Forbidden List. We cannot insure any car on the Forbidden List."
Despite my dipomatic questioning he wouldn't reveal the other cars on the Forbidden List. I was miffed, but I bit pleased that the Italian Hot Rod had enough of a street reputation to make Farmer's Forbidden List. I was also pleased when I did find a much more understanding insurer the next day.
Ain't Insurance Great?, Chuck Engles

I don't know of any other company. insurance company or not, that I think was as systematically unreasonable and unethical in dealing with them. One of the most frustrating and expensive mistakes I've ever made. I warn anyone that asks, don't get involved with Farmers. I learned that lesson the hard way.
