Chuck,

I hope you moved all your other policies to that other company?

I had a similar thing happening to me when I bought a '01 Audi A6
quattro in Germany, in December 2003.

When I got back home I called my insurance company and said I wanted it
insured. I had to take to their facility and have it inspected, which
went fine. They then told me I had to pay about three times as much as
for the old imported A6 I had. When I asked them why, they said it was
because it was imported used. It didn't help asking why my old car,
which also was imported used, wasn't more expensive than a car sold in
Sweden.

I called another company and their policy was less than 50%, and I moved
all my insurance, except the Pantera, to that company. That included the
home insurance and all personal insurance.

I have an inexpensive special enthusiasts insurance on the Pantera, and
I haven't bothered moving it. I can get a policy for the Pantera that is
less than a third of what I pay today, but I can not make myself switch
to a company that is closely tied to the Swedish union movement and the
social democratic party...

Cheers,
Thomas

I don't know of any other company. insurance company or not, that I think was as systematically unreasonable and unethical in dealing with them. One of the most frustrating and expensive mistakes I've ever made. I warn anyone that asks, don't get involved with Farmers. I learned that lesson the hard way.
