[DeTomaso] Bumpers

Hi Chuck.

Thanks. I am not looking for the pre-L bumperettes. When De Tomaso was
forced to go to the impact bumpers for the U.S. market, they did so by
adding the turn signal pods to the front body work and developing the
L-type rubber bumper. Impact bumpers were not required for Euro cars,
but they stayed with the new turn signal pods and created a single piece
chrome bumperette without the integral turn signal. As I understand it
these were only produced for European cars after 1972 making them fairly
rare. If you have the most recent copy of the PI Pantera magazine, you
can see an example of what I'm talking about on the silver feature car.
It is a set of these later chrome bumperettes that I'm interested in.

Joel

Dear Joel,

You'd best check with Mike Drew. As I recall, his international
peripatetic Pantera studies have shown that, like the Campy wheels,
there isn't just *one* preL chrome bumperette. I think that there are
,at least, two, maybe three. Mike could perhaps tell you which ones
might fit most easily to your car.

Good luck, Chuck Engles
