JT,

175 MPH felt really solid right up and until I hit the dips! ;-]> If you look on my web site I think there is a photo of the last time I bent my quarter panels at speed in '99 somewhere around 160 I hit the same dips...you don't ever forget that. There was enough pucker factor to suck up seat leather.

Definately the aero mods made an improved difference at high speed but Sunday was not a good day to test them against cross winds on course and dips that have grown a little deeper over the last 2-3 years but the dips were probably no worse then they were in '98 when I bent my quarter panels...

At 170-175 MPH on the GPS it looked like my R's were around +/- 5500 R's and I say +/- because I just honestly don't know. Even at elevation I was still making power at 5500 and had it not been for cross winds I think I would have pushed for 180 MPH but Sunday wasn't the day to try.

I was real happy with the way the BFG G-Force tires handled....I also had the added 5 degrees of caster and had put the Aldan shocks at stiffest settings and lowered the Pantera front and rear, added the side skirts and added rubber under the lowered air dam. I looked closely at body, chassis and tires tonight and nothing was bent....the rear tires had slight rubbing where I came down hard on two occasions but held up admirably.

As I mentioned when RJ Gottlieb, Rick Doria and Mike Borders told me they were fighting the dips and wind it made me feel allot better.....maybe the reality is the Pantera is set up pretty well already however I want to talk to a shock and spring and alignment expert over the winter months....it will give me something to do! ;-]>

I gotta go now because I hear JB has finally admited he needs my counsel on oil coolers which he has been telling me for 3 years he didn't need!!! Bwaaahahaha

Congrats guys, It is great to hear that you were recognized for extreme
performance. Your efforts make us all stand a little taller.

The dips pose an interesting challenge. Sounds like the magnitude came as a
surprise to the participants. I'm glad everyone made it through safely.

What were your RPMs at 175MPH, peak oil temps and mods contemplated for the
next go-round?

JB - How did your car feel at speed, any mods planned?

JT
