Normal paints won't react but if there's any uncoated spots, atmospheric 
moisture is sure to worm-hole in and react! As long as the mag is coated with zinc 
chromate as in the stock units, touch-ups or even light sanding (as long as 
you don't go thru into bare mag) are not a problem. The stock color by the way, 
was 'argent silver'. Good luck- J DeRyke
