[DeTomaso] 5.5 litre ford?????

Sounds somewhat like the engine I have in my GT5 at the moment.

I found it in an ad, an unbored disassembled 1971 engine, with four 2V 
heads and 15 rod-piston assemblies. It had been stored in a shed for 
probably 15 years, and had lots of surface rust.

The crank cleaned up with a 0.010" grind, and the block needed a 
standard 0.030" bore.

The guy I got it from had apparently used it in Ford Granada (!), I bet 
that would have whipped all the V6 Granada asses :-)

I gave what amounts to about £200 for the lot.

The extra two heads and seven rods/pistons came from an engine that 
threw a rod.

I used an old can of Turtle Rust Eater, which I believe is phosphoric 
acid in gel form, to get rid of the rust, which worked out nice.

I chose not to use my stock Aussie 351C this time. It needs just a 
0.010" bore, and it will need special order pistons, so I'm saving that 
for a future build, possibly a stroker, where I would need special order 
pistons anyway.
