[DeTomaso] MANGUSTA CORROSION PREVENTION / Dick Ruzzin

Unless you want to detach the aluminum panels from their steel frames you
are pretty much out of luck. There is no way that I know of to retard or
stop corrosion between dissimilar metals AFTER they have been assembled. It
is my understanding that what is done in the case of the Cobra restorers
(where the aluminum skin is wrapped around the tubular steel framework and
held in place with rivets) is to insert a non-metallic, non-absorbent
barrier between the tube and skin (it might be something as simple as nylon
electrical tape or some such material) before it is mechanically fastened.
Anything to keep the two metals from coming in contact with each other.
