You might want to check out the Evans coolant #3005 in line stat. They claim no pressure loss through it when open. I haven't seen one yet, but I bought the Stant bypass stat for a BMW 2002 and I'm not impressed with it. It looks like an obstruction to flow when it's fully open.

I am looking a diff stat options. The double type I spoke of, a BMW 2002 or late model Rover inline alloy housing with stat that is spliced into the hose or do it the original Ford way with a larger output pipe and hose i/d. It gets hot here in Louisiana, so water and air flow are crucial. thanks, Jeff Cobb.
