[DeTomaso] Subwoofer question

I see nothing wrong with the idea; at one time, I considered adding a
beer-case-sized box in that area with a key-lock door for an extra amount of
baggage-carrying, but I've got too much stuff in that area now on the engine side. One
Nor-CAl owner did much the same thing as you're suggesting, creating a
shallow box that held the adjustment dials for his ignition amplifier and the ECU
for fuel injection. The box was centered behind the passenger seat & was flush
with the upholstering. If you want the addition more directly facing the cabin
so sound doesn't bounce as much, note that in the lower rear corners of the
cabin, there's a welded attachment for the big hoop structure that braces the
roof, so when you cut the firewall, I'd suggest starting about 2" away from the
floor and right side (with seat & all upholstery removed), and nibble your
way to the edges but do not mess with the roof brace. Stainless brazes
beautifully, so if done neatly, the structural integrity of the chassis should be
unaffected. The structure should also remain waterproof and fireproof, too. Good
luck- J DeRyke
