If you move anywhere near me, and outside of Spokane (which does smog)
you won't have to smog at all. :)
Otherwise, WA state is beginning to creep up on CA standards, albeit
slowly. The bigger the city, like Seattle and surrounding areas in
King county, have what I would call "fair" emissions standards.
Spokane does for that matter too. Not too long ago I put a 1967 AMC
327 into s 1982 Jeep Wagoneer. It passed the sniff test, so they let
me go. It helped that it had a plethora of hoses and plumbing under
the hood that looked very stock. The only part that looked out of
place was the chrome air cleaner. :)
They didn't bat an eyelash. But that was several years ago.
I have had to smog a car for going on four or five years now since I
moved outside the zone. I'm sure the guys on the coast will fill you
in more.
