[DeTomaso] gas tank advice needed

Years ago my tank leaked.  I had a local radiator shop weld a patch on it.
It had rusted through from the outside bottom where it sits on the foam. I
then painted it with normal automotive paint.  Now 19 years later it is
just fine and has no new rust.  If you rusted from the outside, they can
fix it.  If it rusted from the inside out, then you might look at options.
