>>>The answer is, 'that depends'. 2V Aussie heads have the best of both
worlds--the quench combustion chamber of the early 4V heads, and the smaller
intake/exhaust port size of the 2V heads. They are torque monsters, great for
developing all kinds of lunge from down low. However, they reportedly are flow
limited and sort of poop out around 6000 rpm or so (with some notable
exceptions--these are broad generalities I am offering up).

If you have a fairly ordinary motor, with a decent cam, but no crazy
modifications, switching to 2V Aussie heads and a matching intake will probably result
in a great increase in perceived torque, and maybe some increase in
horsepower. It will 'feel' much faster. I have driven a Pantera that had Aussie heads
installed atop a stock bottom end (stock cam), and it was notably snappier
than most other Panteras I've driven.

If you choose your components wisely, you can build a monster motor with
these heads (like Charlie McCall's, or Larry Stock's.) But if you want to spin at
7000+ rpm, early closed-chamber 4V heads are probably a better bet.

Personally, if I didn't already have a set of Aussie heads in-hand and wanted
to swap, I would probably install Edelbrock heads, which give all the
advantages of Aussie heads and more, plus lighter weight, and not much more cost.

Note that 2V American heads (open chamber) suck. They make great wheel
chocks however. :>)
