Forest,
My problem is that I have no idea what has been done to my engine. I know it has been pulled and a 10qt pan installed. I assume the cam has been changed because it comes on strong at 2500rpm.

I am planning on pulling the engine to see in if has the Ford 2pc valves and if so replace them. Maybe put roller rockers on also.

I'm just trying to explore what can be done for a modest outlay to improve the performance. Ultimately I would like to replace the engine with one that make around 500HP.

Ultimately I would like to end up with a smaller parts bin as a result the feedback that I getfrom the board. They have been there and done it. If I invest in something I would like it to be usable on my goal engine.

I am open to all suggestions.
  Mark

  Mark,

Have you checked the serial number on your block? There is always the chance
that the original (read later engine) was replaced with an earlier 71 engine
that had quench heads or that quench heads were installed...
