Dan,
The fellow I bought the car from had the engine worked on by Wally Baldega. It was too much for him and had Wally detune it. Neither Wally of the seller could tell me what was done.
The headers are an upgrade from stock, I think 2.25" primaries and 3" collector. I plan on gutting the muffler as per Jim Wallace.
I would definitely stuff the intake and port match.
Do you see any advantage in using an Aussie block vs. US, as a base for building a bigger motor?

I don't care much for the MPG-style sheet metal intake port plates.
The Roush style inserts (or similar part sold by Marino Perna) are
better but I like to see the intake stuffed to match. I'd spend my
time on the exhaust if it were me. We lost 50 HP through the GTS
mufflers compared to 3" Magnaflow mufflers.
