>>>Some of the historical print sources have been rather derelict in terms of
conducting research, virtually ignoring any reality outside of the USA. Jan
Norbye's book in particular is absolutely laughable. Among other things, he
captions a photo thusly:

"Longtime Pantera stalwart Herbt Muller at speed in the Monza 1000 km in
1972. Despite higher top speed than some rivals, the Pantera failed to make
equal lap times".

First of all, the photo actually shows "Pooky" and Casoni in #2343; they
finished 7th overall. Secondly, another Gr4 Pantera finished 5th overall and 1st
in class in the same race. Considering there were unlimited prototypes
racing in the same event as Gr4 production-based cars, 5th overall and 1st in
class is about as good as you could ever wish for.

So, ignorance matched only by prejudice distorts the record, and until now
there has been nothing to counter it. :<(

>>>It's a huge, huge topic. The book barely scratches the surface, even at
almost 500 pages and 1100 photos.

>>>Yes, but it is important for us to publicize the truth. It's not to late
to revise history. :>)

>>>PI had a batch, but sold out fairly quickly. As far as I know, I am the
only source for them in the USA now. There is an ad in the upcoming POCA
Profiles for the book--POCA members get a $20 discount. :>)
