I agree with you Jeff....But why does anyone still to this day choose to buy a Ferrari or Porche...........There are alot of better contenders for the money.... The Detomaso Pantera was simply not a status symbol, and I think that is a requirement for the mass.  The Pantera though had a bad rap on reliability in the day and I think you have that part wrong for that time.....

Same is true as to why I don't buy or even like Japaneese wheels, even though America thinks they are better wheels....and they last lonnnng time.

  The really funny thing is that in 74, there really wasn't anything even close to it. For $11,400 you had a dependable car that beat the regular and more expensive Ferraris of the time and, except for top end, kept up with the much more expensive Daytona and BB. Same is true of the 2x more expensive Bora. The Porsche 911 Carrera had about 170 hp amd 6.5 secs to 60. The XKE was much slower and don't even mention the Corvette. What else were you going to buy?
