Yes, you're right. They were certainly unimpressive. My point about racing heritage is that Ferrari has been racing for years and that reservoir of historical racing competition and championships translates into a "halo" of performance and prestige for all their models, even the *modest* ones. That "halo" of performance and prestige is something that few other car manufacturers enjoy. DeTomaso despite all the virtues known to us and despite DeTomaso's secret European racing history ( not known on this side of the Atlantic,) ------DeTomaso is not known for its racing prowess, heritage or championships. Sadly, because when you drive one......you just know they kick ass. ;-)

I think that's a red herring. I think that Ferrari was the master marketing guy. If anyone really thought that the 308GT, 308 series was a cool racer then they obviously never did their homework.
