Gezus, what a bummer Charles. Sorry to hear about the damage and loss.
Never, ever leave anything visible inside any care for dirtbags to
steal. These crimes are almost never solved. I've spent a lot of time
trying to solve these things and there is typically not enough evidence
to find out who did it. It sure looks like they had to hit the window a
bunch of times to get it to break. Too bad others around didn't hear
that and investigate. Let us know if you need any help getting parts.

Subject: [DeTomaso] Not such a good weekend for my Pantera
This was a 4-day weekend in Spain, and I had to attend a baptism in
Madrid on Saturday, a roughly 4 hour drive from home if I take backroads
for part of the trip. The weather forecast was for a perfect fall
weekend - sunny and crisp during the day, and clear and fairly cold at
night. But the nearest cloud was thousands of kilometers away so I
decided to take the Pantera.
My wife Amaya's birthday is next week, so I killed several birds with
the same stone and we spent the weekend there and went to see a musical
(Queen - We Will Rock You, so it wasn't a woosy musical). Saturday I
took the car out of the hotel parking and went to her uncle's house, in
a pretty nice section of town. We parked directly across the street from
his house, went to the baptism, then to eat at a local restaurant. So
far so good.
After a great feast we headed back to the house to head for home. That's
when reality struck. I found this waiting for me:

(note - non-MS Internet explorer people may need to put a .jpg after the
file name)
Amaya's purse was gone, as was her digital camera and some other stuff.
Making a long story short, we spent a couple hours in the police
station.
Then cleaned up as best we could, and headed for home. It was now
seriously nighttime, and had gotten seriously cold. So those 4 hours
were not exactly enjoyable, between being seriously p*ssed off and
seriously freezing...
Today I vacuumed the interior to get the rest of the broken glass out...
Tomorrow should be fun... Insurance companies are kind of like dentists
- necessary but not exactly fun - and my company is French. This'll be
fun to explain.
I'm bummed because I'm not afraid to take the car on trips and use it as
a car... which is what it is, after all. But I hate to think that it
isn't safe to park on a good street in the middle of the day.
