[Miata] Emissions problem

Hey Dennis, I had the JR CAI at one time also. I found that I could check 
the timing using a small mirror from below. Get one of those little mirrors 
on a telescoping rod and angle it so that you can shine the timing light at 
it from below. The light will reflect off the mirror onto the crank pulley 
and you'll be able to see it. Have a friend twist the CAS while you're doing 
it.
