Yeah, it is sort of like back in the sixties. Everybody thought that 
4-barrel carbs = gas hog. But if you drove right using only the two 
primary barrels, your mileage was better than most cars with 2-barrel carbs.

My father had a 64 El Camino, 283 with PowerGlide. I was going to try to 
buy it from him when I got back from Korea and put in a 350 with a 4 
barrel carb and a TurboHydramatic. He picked me up at Travis AFB in a 
Vega station wagon! He'd traded in the El Camino for it!
