[Miata] Amount of wobble for 1990 shortnose?

You're not looking at the crank. You're looking at the harmonic
damper, which has a much higher failure rate than the crank does as
time goes on.
Step 1: check the alignment of the timing marks. Pull the #1 spark
plug, drop your dipstick down the hole and rotate the engine (21mm
socket on the crank bolt) until it's at TDC. You'll know you're there
when the dipstick stops moving up and is about to start moving down.
Now, is your timing mark lined up with the T?
Bad dampers tend to have the timing mark rotated.
