Huh???
The 6" hose is right behind the manifold not down near the starter.
If can be changed fairly easily with the use of a stubby open end wrench.
I have changed 3 of them on the 3 older Miatas I own and everyone failed
with a pinhole in the hose not expanding. It makes the car act like a bad
slave since it leaks when you step on the pedal and the clutch will not
disengage.
I replaced them with a SS hose so it will hold up better.

There is about a 6" rubber hose piece in that hydraulic line which may be
expanding instead of operating the slave cylinder properly. It is located in
between the firewall & engine on the starboard side way, WAY down there by
the starter motor. You can see it plain as day and it looks like not much of
a problem and in fact, it is a piece of cake to replace if you don't mind
pulling the engine out first. If you DON'T pull the engine first, you will
very soon wish you had been born with an extra elbow on your forearms. <G>
It *can* be done however, and if I ever attempt it again I will have wrapped
both forearms in Kevlar to ward off the masses of "Invisible Pointy Things"
who live there & attack without mercy... <G>
YMMV

Hi all, after several months of leaking, I finally forgot to fill up my
clutch system with fluid, so air got in, and I had to bleed the system, so I
went ahead and replaced the slave cylinder.
Now that I've got the slave cylinder replaced, and bled, it feels very
different than it did before, it does not "Bite" as hard at the starting of
the engagement point. I'm wondering why, and if anyone has any idea for what
could be wrong. The engagement stroke feels a little longer now as well. But
the whole experience feels softer now than it did before, and I'm afraid
it's damaging something to drive it.... Can anyone shed some light on my
problem?
